Le Café

62 Rue Tiquetonne, 75002 Paris, France

Our second to last morning in Paris, the first of which we woke up before 11. The top of our bucket list was still to eat a freshly baked croissant and pain au chocolat. Le Café met and exceeded all expectation. Just steps away from our Airbnb, our grumbling and hungover stomachs ran into the first cafe we saw. Without a clue what anything was on the menu, we ordered the “simple breakfast” and was delighted that what came was what every Parisian local had on their tables too. A fresh croissant or pain au chocolat, a squeezed orange, and a latte.

My first bite: picture Remi from Ratatouille taking his first bite of cheese and strawberry. Fireworks. The layers of butter were so thin and light, they waved as the breeze blew between my lips and the pastry. Delightfully simple and elegant. The latte was bittersweet, perfectly warm, and complimented the freshly squeezed orange juice.

We set our alarms early the next morning to squeeze in one more trip to Le Café

Straight from my notes app: “THE ORANGE JUICE WAS SO FRSAHA ND OULOY I LIKE PULP AND IF U DONT UR CRACRA IT WAS A QUEEzed ORANGE. NO LIES THERE.”
